New Years Eve 2015!

Who doesn’t love New Years Eve? I know I do, believe it or not, it is one of my favorite times of the year. I don’t necessarily have to be with a ton a people, but I do like a nice glass of champagne and someone special to spend it with. When you share that midnight kiss with that special person, I think it just starts the year off right. With that being said, if you are looking for a party this year, we put together a list of ten events in the metroplex we think are worthy of checking out.

You will notice there is one event missing this year and it is with a deep sigh we have to confirm that NYE Big D has been postponed this year. Apparently they have parted ways with the  American Airlines Center and Victory Park. It looks as if they are looking for a new home but in the meantime, this year check out these great events!

The first New Year’s celebration dates back 4,000 years. Julius Caesar, the emperor of Rome, was the first to declare Jan. 1 a national holiday. He named the month after Janus, the Roman god of doors and gates. Janus had two faces, one looking forward and one looking back. Caesar felt that a month named after this god would be fitting.

Greece and Norway: Also having similar traditions, in Greece they bake a bread with a coin inside, and if the third slice has the coin, it is said that spring will be early that year. Similarly, Norwegians make rice pudding with one whole almond, and whoever’s serving holds the almond is guaranteed wealth that year

Beverages, including champagne will be for sale on site. Make your reservations now at any Sundance Square restaurant and then head over to Sundance Square Plaza for your NYE Celebration. Emerald City Band

Claiming to be America’s Ultimate Party Band, these guys seem to put on one heck of a show. People come every year from over 20 states to dance the night away and bring in the New Year with Emerald City Band.  This year they will rock out the Hotel Intercontinental in Dallas. They offer five different packages you can choose from including staying at the hotel. The Dallas Morning News, D Magazine, Knot Magazine, and AACWP voted Emerald City as “Entertainers of the Year”. They also have a brand new Christmas Single out!
